drove to tucson, via Salton Sea and Slab City. Slab City was so depressing i took no photos. i had been planning on camping in the area, but it was so awful, i drove south around the mountains, found out the entire area is a "sacrifice area" and completely occupied by OHV folk who stay up all night, party, and drive around recklessly. absolutely no where to camp. ended up driving all the way to a crap motel in Yuma -- seriously the whole south-of-Salton area is uninhabitable.
the funny train water tower is in Gila Bend. do NOT eat at the restaurant that looks interesting. it's not interesting at all and the food was awful and expensive.
at Gila Bend went south on 86 to Tucson since i don't often get down that way.
i returned home from Tucson via I-10, Salome Road, Salome, Bouse, Parker, then CA 62.
